Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community offered condolences for the star in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
